Song of the day: Tout le bonheur du monde by Sinsemilia

In Europe, we all like Barrack Obama and I am not an exception in this matter. He seems a good guy, or at least better than the McCain or Bush, but this is my opinion. He has just spent few days in Europe and that is a good thing: build good relationship between Europe and the US won’t harm! The issue is that even if he seems nice and has some sweet words for the Berliners and other europeans, he has done one thing that he should not have… He said:

No one welcomes war. I recognize the enormous difficulties in Afghanistan.  But my country and yours have a stake in seeing that NATO’s first mission beyond Europe’s borders is a success. For the people of Afghanistan, and for our shared security, the work must be done.  America cannot do this alone.  The Afghan people need our troops and your troops; our support and your support to defeat the Taliban and al Qaeda, to develop their economy, and to help them rebuild their nation.  We have too much at stake to turn back now”

I took these from Corine Lesnes’ blog that you can read here. She is a correspondent for Le Monde in the US. You can find B. O.’s full speech.

What he says here is not innocent and not really welcomed here: clean somebody else’s mess… Nobody wants that. French for instance doesn’t join the US army for one main reason: we have never agreed to any of Bush’s operation in Middle East and we have said that on several occasion now (mainly because we had nothing to get there (such as petrol that the US will keep for them anyway) but still… and also because it wasn’t based on any reliable info). We are also not really part of NATO anymore even if our dear President wants the country back… So on what ground should we go in Afghanistan??? NONE! Oh sorry save Afghans… I am not sure our help will be well seen by them… Is there really something we can do now that damages have been done and people doesn’t have a good esteem of foreigners… I am a simple IT so I should leave the thinking to our dear politics… I am nobody but I like giving my opinion. Tell me your’s?

PS: this doesn’t change the fact that having Obama for President could be the best thing that can happen for the Americans.

Song of the day: American boy by Estelle – this is the song you can listen to everywhere here. She is British and has a nice voice. It is not the kind of music I usually listen to but this one makes me dance and I have to say that she is not bad at all.

Hope the week has a nice beginning for everybody. Here it is sunny but called but they expect sun for this week end. So who’s up for a barbie this week end?

Song of the day: Big Calm by Morcheeba

Today is voting day here in London (in french). Londoners (7 millions de mecs!) need to decide who they want as Mayor of Greater London. The current mayor is Ken Livingston or Ken the red: left wing maybe a bit communist (labour party here), elected twice and asking for a third – does he knoe Jamais 2 sans 3 ! ;) He has created the congestion charge, the tax that you need to pay of you drive through London. It is about £8 and there is cameras everywhere to catch your number and remind you by letter that you didn’t pay! He now wants to make the big polluters like the SUV drivers to pay more… Go Ken!!!

Against him, you can find Boris (conservative party) as his main rival. His real name is Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson… Brilliant, joker but without experience who is elected in a county where any conservative is elected unless he has 1 leg and comes from Mars!

Que le meilleurs gagne !

Revolution

7 04 2008

Song of the day: Another Brick in the Wall by the Pink Floyd

Please follow these kids (song of the day), have a revolution for something. Changes sometimes are good, even needed… In Revolution, you have evolution like the Human rights as a result of the French revolution (ok, I go extreme but you know me, don’t you?). Even if that is a small stand you do, it is still something that can lead to some greater things. All is about small thing like the urban legend :) that says that a butterfly can provoke a tsunami on the other side of the Ocean ( F***ing papillon ;) )!

Sometimes, just remind people what a recycle bin is for or being polite isn’t a miracle and everyone can do it, or a smile doesn’t cost a penny or money is not all or Sarkozy isn’t god ( ;) ) or other people worth meeting them even if you don’t like them at first or pubs are a great social place!  I am sure you have your own idea. I trust you. I know what you are capable of. Sometimes I just like grumble about anything. I think it is needed because it makes you feel better once you say it out loud. People might disagree but at the end, after one sleep, they will understand why you said it and this make people move! The future is with us! :D

Vote for me! … No I am just kidding! :D

Song of the day: Here I come by Barrington Levy – I love it!

runningI am just back from the gym. It is good to sweat sometimes. As I have my arse on my chair all the day long, I don’t have lots of occasion to do sport. So I joined a club few months ago like more than half the City. I can go swimming, running, cycling, movingmyarsing! Aaah, like everybody! That is a good point but sometimes, you need to be humble. :D It is not because everybody does it and you do like them that you are a stupid follower! Sometimes people are right! ;)

And now I need to keep on! Sport is good for me!

Birthday

Song of the day: Sally McLennane by The Pogues – genuine Irish music! :D

treflesI don’t know if you are aware but it is soon St Patrick’s day, the Irish national day. But it is not only that, it’s also my birthday!!!! Yes! I am born on St Patrick’s day, sacred day for the drinkers! :) I will be 26 – I tell you my age because I am sure you are about to ask even if that is not polite to ask a Mamie. ;)

So, I need to send invitations and book a place. I will have few friends over coming from Paris for a long week end. I took my monday and tuesday off for them. I think we will do something on the 15th and then go to the pub on the 17th. Sounds like a plan. I just need to find the place for Saturday. Any idea???? because you are invited so you can of course choose ! ;)

Song of the day: Think by Aretha Franklin

carrotToday, a little joke that I love. Even thinking about it makes me laugh. It is not the joke of the year. This is just a simple joke that could be told by any kids as it is not a dirty or intellectual one. So here it is:
- What is see-through and smells like carrot?

You want the answer? :) What could make me laugh that much? You need to know that I smile for LOTS of things. I am an easy laugher so don’t be surprised by the silliness of the answer, ok? So back to the joke, the answer is:
a rabbit’s fart

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! I am smiling just by writing it! Sorry! Hope you are smiling too, though because smiling is good for you. Please, send me your favorite joke from the comment side of this post! I want to be roll on the floor laughing! ;)

Song of the day: Zaza by Thomas Fersen

droopyToday I have a vicious headache and a ache in my neck from a bad position in my bed. That’s not pleasant at all. I felt it all the day long like a lancinating pain. But I still have to work, speak in english, concentrate on issues from users who don’t understand IT, travel on an overcrowded train! The only good thing is walking in the fresh air outside!

But it could be worse as always. That’s why I always wonder why the Britishes always answer to the everyday question ‘How are you?’ by ‘not too bad, not too bad’!!!! I mean, all could be worse so, come on!! For once, just give me a ‘good’ or a ‘fine’. It will never be all good as we always all have somethin wrong. But for most of the people I meet in the tube, it’s only a stain on their snow white shirt or who will keep the dog during their coming holidays that worry them. It’s not ‘will my kid be safe going to school today and won’t be caught in crossed fire?’. So, for fuck’s sake, loose your usual composure and answer GOOD! :D

we are getting older :-/

Song of the day: American Life by Madonna

oldI have a question for you: how old are your colleagues? Sommetimes I wonder why I am working for a bank as it seems that I am the youngest. It feels like I am retired before the age! My direct co workers are between 37 and 45! … I will be 26 on the 17th of March (Don’t forget this date as it is St Patrick’s day i.e. the Irish National day i.e. the day known as a day you are pissed ;) ). So my colleagues are all 10 years older than me!!! :-/ weird, isn’t it?

But I am not bothered. They are all cool and I enjoy working with them and that is the most important thing. What would be different if they were younger? Nothing I suppose as they go to the pub in the evening, they say stupid things during the day and we have a laugh everyday… :D According to me a good working athmosphere is essential in order to enjoy your work. It helps you keep going everyday. What is your opinion my working friends?

food!

17 01 2008

song of the day: Marrakesh Express by CSN

la pure charolaiseLet’s talk about something I love: food! :P

Today, I read in the news in le Monde and Washington Post that the americans will soon be allowed to sell, buy and obviously eat cloned animal. Is that me or it is a bit weird?

I don’t really know what to think, me, Mamie Julie, the one having grown up in the Charolais where the beef meat is great, delicious, wonderful!!! I am so fussy about that that I usually don’t order beef in any restaurant except in my region or in really good good restaurants. I am so afraid to be disapointed that I just can’t! But maybe I will on Friday as we plan with my housemates to go to eat in a french restaurant really close to our place. They apparently offer a really good bavette… I already have l eau a la bouche :D

So will the cloned meat be as good as the original one? It may be eatable i.e. harmless according to the FDA but it doesn’t mean that it is good. We all eat good thing because it is a pleasure to eat. If it was only not to starve, we would eat energitized pills or whatever shit they now do.

But in another hand, this could be a way to produce more and faster. That could probably help lots of people because more production means lower prices. The issue is that it s been developped by firms that will sell certificates or methods at huge prices not allowing the needers the capacity to buy it for themselves so only the bigest will buy it and then sell meat… So it will be controlled by the same old ones…

Rha, fucking capitalists!
Tomorrow I will try to find something lighter to talk about.
