Who the f***k dared touching my laptop?! That’s the first thing I though when I saw the battery plugged! I always leave it without battery and use it on AC power. Am I a real geek to notice this kind of things? Am I a real geek to be upset? I don’t know, but when I launch firefox and all my tabs have disappeared because the person who used it didn’t click save or delete them all, that is where I get furious and then realize that it isn’t a big deal… I am not that bad but I think I am still a geek regards to that!

By the way, this week end I go to Milan with a friend. More photos are coming! Our only issue is that the temperature will be between -4 and 4 during 3 days…. I am not used to that anymore.

Today, after spending 16 hours on an issue yesterday, my colleague came and sort it out in 1 hour!!! Believe it or not! You can’t imagine how pissed I was against him. But I should not hold any grudge againdt him. He is part of the development team that have been taken away from the support. Yesterday he was tied up by another production issue and he wants to make a point I think to our new boss that the separation was a bad move… But hey! that is work! C’est la vie! there is nothing to do now! But I ma still pissed though!

And guess what? I am working. I am at my desk front of my 2 screens, it is 11am and I have been here since 7:15 and I will be here for a lot longer… We got too many works to do on our servers and we need to be extra careful these days because of what’s happening on the exchange. All our servers have been rebooted because Windows Updates have been applied so we have to restart 50 servers, put the passwords for the frive mappings, log on all the apps. We are going to carry few upgrades, password change, …

Some work are done because they’re moving our support offshore to Bengalore. We have people over from India here with us and we need to train them to do our job. Banks are trying to cut the prices because we are too expensive in London! And because of the credit crunch, they told all our contractors that their wages will be reduced by 10%: take it or leave it. No exception will be made… Thing is, we are already so streched that it is difficult for them to sack us, permanent employees but because it is harder now to get a job in banking, they still can hit the contractors! Bastards! But I am sure their bonuses won’t be that much affected, only ours…

You know what… I have ne glasses. I bought the others 3 years ago. They had no anti reflect and no color anymore! My problem is that my sight has gotten worse. It wasn’t great before but at least it has never changed for the past 10 years!!! Now, it is worst than a mole! For those who understand, before my correction was +4.25 Sph and +0.75 Cyl for my right eye and +5.5 Sph and +0.5 for the left eye with 180 axis. Now it is +5.75 Sph, -1.25 cyl and 90 axis for both… I think it means SHIT but I am not sure! What I know is when your eyes are fucked, it is not good to work before a computer!

They keep killing opponents, putting in jail innocents and oppressing the people! So like I said in the subject… when the capitalists look at the pleb’s ass… you can go towards something bad like the petrol price crisis. The speculation don’t stop because the traders are humans… because as a matter of fact they aren’t. People have always died from starvation but now it is not only the kids, that is also the parents, the fucking family who is dying because some dudes decided to trade some petrol at the highest rate we have ever seen. As a result people can’t transport any food or anything at usual cost. All has doubled up and the dude… what does he do? He just pays petrol for his hummer with the big bonus he got for his great work…. that implies people dying in another country. That makes me sick.

And today, what do I read? This in le monde. The same dude is going to medical conferences about a new molecule found by oncologist that could help ‘cure’ rectal cancer!!! So he wants to buy shares in the molecule owner company as the shares will soon take off if that is really true. He wants to make money betting on the health of people’s ass! Like this, price of these treatment will be already expensive before they go on the market. It will be disproportionate and inapropriate.

You don’t bet when people’s life are at stake, fucking hell!

Sorry, I didn’t mean to be upset, but I guess I am a bit upset and the worst is that I am a part of it as I am working for a bank! That is what sadden me as well….

Today: I worked. Had to get up at 6:00 on a Saturday. I know I am not the only one but still, it is hard.

bank holidays

Song of the day: biscuit by Portishead – they are good. You fly high when you listen to this kind of music. I like it.

Today is a bank holiday due to the 1st of May – Labour day. The only difference is that today is Monday the 5th of May. But here, in England, they don’t like to follow the rules. They do their bank holidays only on Mondays on order to have long week ends except definite days like Xmas and Boxing day but if they are on a Sunday, the next Monday will be Bank Holidays. In France, I remember 2 or 3 years ago, Xmas and New eve day were Sundays… the result was that we were screwed. We didn’t get any more days off!

And the worst is that I worked whereas the sun was shining outside. Luckily I was able to dial in from home which is quiet good I reckon. I worked the full day but laying on my bed with my laptop on my lap!

We went after to a bbq that some friends of mine were having at their place! They are from Mauritius so we had spiced fishes and Mauritius beer! Really good. We are thinking of buying a bbq for our place. I hope to see you this summer to enjoy it!
