Song of the day: voyage voyage by Desireless :))))))))))))))))))))))) I know you love it!

pastisHow do you drink your vodka? With some pastis!! Look here for more details (in french) πŸ˜‰

Now a question for you, would you like to go to the American continent for cheaper? Yes, of course, even if it means than more people will travel because more concurrence hence more flights so more pollution because more kerozen in the air. πŸ™‚ Before 2 American companies (AA and United) and 2 British airlines (BA and Virgin) were allowed to fly between Heathrow and the US. Now it is OPEN to any company !! Before, because of a stupid rule (for us travelers), for any flight between the US and a European country, only a company from one of both country could do a direct flight. That is why for instance, you had to fly to London with BA, Frankfurt with Luftanza,… before doing your over the Atlantic flight! Now, they will be able to do whatever they want. Read le monde about that here.

But, be careful, no vodka on board if you don’t want to snore ! πŸ™‚

how did you say they are called?

30 03 2008

I am lazy tonight. I am just back from Birmingham where I went for a housewarming party and where I was again completely drunk because of too much Tequila rapido after some Captain Morgan rum (best spicy rum in the world) and coke! So after a good minasse πŸ˜‰ some peaceful music is always welcomed. This band plays trip hop music like nobody else. My sister ans I discovered them 8 or 9 years ago. They are awesome. The only issue is that I keep calling them Archive with the french accent although they are from London and could say it with the correct accent. So, mesdames et messieurs, here is Archive: <applause> πŸ˜›

Song of the day: Grown Man crying Blues by Popa Chubby – this guy is really good with a guitar between his hands. Thanks again to my dad for having made me listen to good music!!

Yesterday, I went to the gym. There, I met a colleague in the stairs. I was climbing, she was going down so we saw each other and our eyes even met. She is not a direct colleague, she is a person I support. She calls and asks for reports to run or reports issues with the outputs of the software she uses. When she needs something, she uses to send the email only to 2 of my male colleagues because ‘she has her favorites’ as one of them kindly pointed to me… She even uses nicknames. We aren’t copied on the email address so it is not like she needs to remembers all our names! But when my colleagues are off or not in yet, she needs to ask us and there you can feel the pain in her voice. She doesn’t trust me. When I ran into her somewhere, she just ignore me or talk down to me. What bothers me is that even at a neutral place like the gym, she doesn’t even deign say hello!

That is not the first time and won’t be the last as we can’t pleased everybody. But what does a hello cost? I am always polite with her, do what she asks and solves her issues! Damned!!! But I think it is more because I am a woman working with men that annoys her than my competence at the job. I am sure all women already felt this kind of unwelcomed atmosphere when you arrive in a group where there is one girl surrounded by guys. It is like she thinks you are gonne steal their attention from her!

Some women are mean!! πŸ˜› but not you my friends, because we are the best and we worth it! πŸ˜‰

Song of the day: Jacqueline from Franz Ferdinand – slow start and then ca pete!!! πŸ˜€

mesΒ minipoucesI didn’t vote for Sarkozy (naboleon pour les intimes (…d oΓΉ l image)), that is not a mystery for anybody… and today I have one more reason to aught at him. He landed at Heathrow today with Carla Bruni, his wife for some talking he wants to have with the british. Nothing bad for the moment. But here is what I can read here in The Telegraph:
“Mr Sarkozy, who has been learning English, stepped on to the platform exchanging a few words with the Queen who is fluent in French”

Really class! We already have a bad reputation as French people are really bad at speaking a foreign language but now even our fucking president is crap at it! I don’t care if a peasant lost somewhere in France doesn’t speak Shakespear’s language but my President….!!!! 😦

Song of the day: Barbie Girl by the Axel Boys Quartet – listen up this version! They are really good!!! πŸ˜›

Today, I had a really busy day. I had to stay longer than expected and I have been asked to do extra hours all the week if I can. Luckily, the week will be short as Monday was bank holiday!

I don’t want to talk about the Tibet and the conflict with China or whether or not France will go to the JO or Thierry Gilardi’s death or the lowering of the french students’ ‘bourse du CROUS’. I keep that for later in the week. Now I just want to lighten the atmosphere! I am gonna explain you how I hurt my little right hand finger (my nail is black) in the stupidest ever move!!!! I was basically sit up on my chair at work with my feet on the ground thinking of nothing… as usual. And at on point, I decided to spin the chair… so I did. I gripped the armchair and pushed the ground with my feet to the right. Then, my chaiir rotated the armchair leaning to the desk. That is when my finger was stucked between my desk and the armchair.

You don’t have to applause when I will win the award of the more stupid move. πŸ™‚

Song of the day: One of These Morning by Moby

roman bath inΒ BathI am back from my 3 days week end and it was not as good as first thought. We went to Bath and Bristol as explained in my previous post. And I have to say there is not much to see there. I am sorry for their inhabitants but that is what I think. We were also unlucky as it rained, even HAILED few times and was freezing!!!! So we were ‘forced’ to stop in restaurants and pubs all the day long. We stayed in a youth hostel that represents all you can expect from this kind of place. I didn’t much care as I knew what to expect. However, next to it, we had the pleasant surprise to find a really cool place. It is called: Start the Bus – follow the link for more info. You can hear really cool music drinking one of their big range of beers among a nice and young delirium crowd. This place is definitely a good address to keep.

Song of the day: Practice what Jah teach by Israel Vibration

Tonight, I am on a long week end again. Here, Friday and Monday are bank holidays!!! Isn’t that great! Another 4 days week end!!! Friday, I will do nothing and then on Saturday, I am leaving for Bath with my housemate Karen. We will spend the day there and then head to Bristol. We will then stay there as it is the only place we found available beds in a youth hostel. And finally, we will go back to London passing Bath again on Monday. πŸ™‚ Nice!

Song of the day: Almost Cut My Hair by Crosby, Still, Nash & Young (CSN&Y), thanks to my father. We arez big fans in mu family!!!

So…. What have I done?? This last 4 days were really busy. My friends arrived by the Eurostar and we had to go back to my place leave their stuff. That is where they offered me tons of food as my birthday present. It was so good to see: saucissons, rillettes, comtΓ©, morbier, camembert, financier, croquants, caviar d aubergines, vin,… and so much!! Like a dream for us, poor french people in a foreign country! πŸ˜‰ After we went to … the pub. It was so packed that it was hard to find a place where we could reach the bar and order beers for all of us. But the Waxy is really huge. It was also full of Irish due to the fact that they were playing rugby and it was their national day soon. We also had a couple of sambucas with the girls (their first one ever for my friends!). So good. Then the tiger tiger time came and we went dancing a bit before coming back home really tired by a night bus completely full despite the fact that it was 3am!!! Crazy!

On Sunday, we didn’t do much except have a gargantuan english breakfast with saussages, bacon, potatoes, baked beans, scrambled eggs and toasts! Yes, I have made that for 7!! We could small porc all over the house. πŸ˜€ And after that, we had just enough time to go to the British museum for a short visit before the closure.

Monday was the best. We visited London by going to Waterloo and then walk by the London eye, then Gros Ben, Parliament house and Westminster. After, we took the tube to Tower Hill and saw Tower of London, Tower Bridge. We walked by the river on the town hall side and stopped by London bridge for a beer and a Fish and Chips. Then we went to Bank, saw some suits and ties (like we say πŸ˜› ), and went to St Paul’s. To finish, we crossed the Millenium bridge, visited the Tate Modern and had a coffee a Starbuck’s next to St Paul’s. By 6pm, we were into The Porterhouse pub in Covent Garden to celebrate my birthday and the St Patrick’s. There we had so much fun!!! 2 pints and 6 sambucas later, girls were laughing and singing! We were at home at 1am after a BK at Waterloo and some pints of water. This is what I call a St Pat – Bday party!!!!!!!! :))))))

On Tuesday, we only went to Harrod’s, spend some time there and walked around as you can leave your suit cases for Β£2.5!

PS: Guess where I went with my colleagues at lunch… :-/ It is NOT my fault! LOL

Song of the day: Stayin’ alive by the Bee Gees

Hey! That’s a new girl speaking here. I finally went to the hairdresser yesterday, to Toni & Guy to be more precise. Here in England, this is an institution. It s a chain of hairdressers funded by 2 guys. They now do the hairs of lots of models for any kind of events. They are specialized in ‘relooking’. I though that they could help me because as I told them, it is every time a pain as I never know what I want. I just know that I don’t spend much time on my hair in the morning and I have really straight hair (every hairdresser I met told me that once or twice). I have never EVER seen my hair curly by any weather!!!! But the woman was nice and did a nice cut for me so I am happy. πŸ˜‰

Now I need to prepare myself for this week end because I am sure I will be more than pissed. I have already had 2 pints with my colleagues at lunch. OMG!

I also have to welcome my friends tomorrow afternoon and need to organize their stay and the program for the 4 next days. This means that you won’t hear from me before next week… Sorry

Have a nice week end all. Enjoy the St Patrick’s because you worth it! πŸ˜‰
