Song of the day: paint it black by The Rolling Stones – sorry about yesterday, I didn’y put any music but I weren’t in the mood.

Today has been a quiet day. While the others went out yesterday night, I went to bed! Yes you read it: I went to bed. I caught up on my sleep and I woke as they were waking up this morning! πŸ™‚ And guess what, it was my housemate’s bday on Friday and a friend’s bday yesterday so today I cooked for them: yoghurt cake with vanilla sugar and chocolate chips for dessert and gratin dauphinois and roast beef for the main course. It s gonna be good guys! sorry you are not all here but come see me and I ll do the same for you! πŸ˜‰

banks and computers

25 10 2008

And guess what? I am working. I am at my desk front of my 2 screens, it is 11am and I have been here since 7:15 and I will be here for a lot longer… We got too many works to do on our servers and we need to be extra careful these days because of what’s happening on the exchange. All our servers have been rebooted because Windows Updates have been applied so we have to restart 50 servers, put the passwords for the frive mappings, log on all the apps. We are going to carry few upgrades, password change, …

Some work are done because they’re moving our support offshore to Bengalore. We have people over from India here with us and we need to train them to do our job. Banks are trying to cut the prices because we are too expensive in London! 😦 And because of the credit crunch, they told all our contractors that their wages will be reduced by 10%: take itΒ or leave it. No exception will be made… Thing is, we are already so streched that it is difficult for them to sack us, permanent employees but because it is harder now to get a job in banking, they still canΒ hit the contractors! Bastards! But I am sure their bonuses won’t be that much affected, only ours…

Song of the day: Our house by Madness

Yes I travel again. This week end, I booked tickets to go to Paris by Eurostar for the week end of the 5th of December. If you will be there, let me know. Last year, on my way back from home on the 26th of December, we stayed stuck in the tunnel for more than an hour so Eurostar gave us a voucher for 50% on our next round trip or a free one way ticket. So I will enjoy this ride! πŸ™‚

PS: go see my page about Guatemala!!!! I am so proud! πŸ˜‰

Music of the day: Digital Monkey by Bakan Beat Box – TO LISTEN

I am just back from the Carling Academy in Islington where I saw Balkan Beat Box on stage and where I will soon see Horace Andy! You can see their website here. The sound was good, the dance was great and the atmosphere royal. They style was gypsy-balkan-punk-ska-electro-musical music. Nice and punchy. I loved it although my housemate says it is for young people! I don’t care, I love dancing music! πŸ™‚

Song of the day: Lollipop by Mika

Today we went to Kew Garden with my housemate. Β£13 to enter into the most impressive Botanical Garden in the world. The weather was really nice, hot and sunny, the sky was spotless blue and the trees were green and orange. A good and relaxing day!
